The Spectre ships with the company’s new logo on the lid, and HP clearly listened to its customers to include only features that are relevant to a majority of its user base, stripping away unneeded extras that would have otherwise contributed to a higher price tag. Its been a strong year for cinema that tackles the uncertainties of modern times. Years-in-the-making games like Overwatch, Stardew Valley, and The Witness were released to critical acclaim, and sequels like Pokemon Sun. The Best Movies of 2016, According to IndieWire Critic Eric Kohn. The refinements on this year’s model shows HP’s maturity as a company. 2016 has been another extraordinary year for pop culture. This Doom is a kinetic joy, presented with great graphics, amazing heavy metal soundtrack, and one of the best shotguns in gaming. Intense, fast, focused almost entirely on running, shooting, and turning demons into blood splatter. Even if we ignore the Nintendo Switch (and we will because this is PCWorld) 2017 delivered an incredible number of top-tier games. Before Doom (2016) came along nobody seemed to put faith in the old way of doing first-person shooters. Sure, the device lacks some of the glitzier features of its more expensive rival-like a detachable display and pen support for note-taking-but the Spectre more than makes up for it with an affordable price tag, compact footprint, long battery life and fast performance. By my estimation, 2017 was one of the best years in gaming history.
